It's been a while, blog lol (I'll leave the typo as is)
It's MAIMI~ Finally!!!!
I've launched the "person" from India collection on MyMe, which I've been developing carefully.
This time, I focused heavily on the ZINE (text), shooting locations, and clothing materials. I made this with the desire to share what I remembered about truly important things when I went to India.
In 2023, I was suddenly called to India.
Even now, if I close my eyes, I can recall the sights and emotions of that moment.
My heart races the moment I remember it.
After my trip to India, intense emotions that I had almost forgotten came flooding back.
Like the streets of India, various emotions swirled in chaos.
When our eyes met, we'd gaze into each other's eyes, smile, and wave.
The moment they smiled, a wind of energy blew from them.
I had such experiences every day during my trip.
An invisible bond, warmth, love, and energy born from human interaction, even without exchanging words.
In this busy world, have we lost sight of what's truly important?
What is the difference between connecting through a screen and a genuine connection?
In reality, humans are comrades; we make eye contact, smile, and greet each other. We engage in trivial conversations and connect with others.
We cannot live alone. We live supported by the warmth and connections between people.
It's such a natural thing, so why is it missing in modern times?
Is it just me, or does it feel like we're declining even though we're supposed to be evolving?
I expressed what I felt during this trip to India through visuals, clothing, and a BOOK (text).
Not just love, but also the connection with nature and myself, shock, helplessness, pain, etc., various complex emotions are intertwined.
I expressed this intertwined state by mixing yarn, fabric scraps, and other materials.
There were moments when I felt the knife-like pain arising from the disparity between rich and poor. Receiving this feeling, this time I challenged myself to create clothes using old saris purchased through fair trade. Furthermore, to express complex emotions and thoughts, I also created items that combine leftover fabric and printed fabric from KOBINAI's clothing production with old saris.
I hope this collection helps you feel various connections. And I hope it becomes an opportunity to learn about the background of the products and the stories of the producers. It may be a small activity, but I want to spread what I felt and learned, even a little. And if we can all share and remember important things, I believe that "thoughts" and "activities" will spread even further.
We have so many things we don't know about the world, and so many unknown worlds. This is true not only for the world but also within Japan. But we have only one wish: world peace and the elimination of wealth disparity. The world is not equal. That's why we need to think. We need to act.
And I hope it becomes an opportunity to remember what is truly important.
It's a busy world, but there's one important thing I felt it was "human connection."
