Fair Trade from India

This time, I poured my personal feelings into KOBINAI's
second label, My Me.

My emotions during my trip to India were so mixed
that I even considered not translating them into clothing.
I wondered if my feelings would fade the moment I created the pieces.

But, after all, I still wanted to share what I felt with everyone.

This time, personal feelings were put to the test with KOBINAI's second label, My Me.

I had so many mixed emotions that I actually thought about not putting them into clothing.
I thought about quitting the idea of putting them into clothes.
I thought that the moment I created the clothes, the emotions would fade away. I thought.

But I still wanted to tell everyone what I felt.

What I felt on this journey was not only love, but also the connection between myself and nature, shock, helplessness, pain, and a variety of complex emotions intertwined.

That's why I decided to express it through visuals, a BOOK (text), and an exhibition, as clothing alone couldn't fully convey it.

Among these, the most important thing for me when translating emotions into clothing this time
was "a commitment to fair trade."

︎*What is Fair Trade?
Fair trade is an initiative that aims to ensure producers can sell their products at fair prices and secure sustainable livelihoods. This initiative encourages producers to work under appropriate labor conditions and to produce in environmentally friendly ways.
Additionally, fair trade offers consumers the opportunity to learn about the background of products and the stories of producers, promoting socially responsible consumption.

During my trip, there were moments when I felt the knife-like pain caused by the disparity between rich and poor.
I was swallowed by my own powerlessness, the inequality of this world, and an indescribable mix of emotions.
However, rather than sadness, I was positive.
I wanted to think about what I could do, however small it might be, approach it positively, and
commit to it.

With this feeling, this time I took on the challenge of making clothes using old saris purchased through *Fair Trade.
Furthermore, to express these complex emotions and thoughts, I also created items that combine old saris with leftover fabrics and printed fabrics from the production of KOBINAI and MyMe clothing.

There were moments during the trip when I felt the knife-like pain arising from the gap between the rich and the poor.
I was consumed by feelings of helplessness, inequality in this world, and indescribable emotions. But instead of sadness I was positivity. I wanted to face forward and work on what I could do, however small it may be.

With this feeling, I challenged myself to make clothes using old saris purchased through *Fair Trade this time.
To further express these complex feelings and thoughts, I also created an item combining old saris with leftover fabrics and printed fabrics from the KOBINAI and ”My Me” clothing production.

I hope that through this collection, you will feel various connections.
And, I hope it provides an opportunity to learn about the background of the products and the stories of the producers.
It may be a small activity, but I want to spread what I felt and learned as much as possible. And if we can all share and remember important things, I believe that "thoughts" and "activities" will spread even further.

There are many things in the world we don't know, and many worlds we are unaware of.

This is true not only globally but also within Japan.
But we have only one wish.
World peace and bridging the gap between rich and poor.
The world is not equal. That's why we need to think. We need to act.

We hope you feel various connections through this collection.
I would also be happy if this collection provides an opportunity to learn about the background of the products and the stories of the producers.
